Sophie Ann Woodford, 89, Green Bay, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at a local hospital. She was born February 12, 1936 in Lena, WI, daughter to the late Bernard and Helen (Lisowe) Schraufnagel. Sophie graduated from Hixton High School, and married Allen Woodford Sr. on September 17, 1955 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1988. She worked at Saranac Glove for many years.
Sophie enjoyed camping, bingo, playing cards, cooking, quilting and was an avid Packers fan.
She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Eugene "Geno" (Geraldine) Woodford, Mary Besaw, Judy Woodford, Allen "Al" Jr (Kathy) Woodford, Jane (Ken) Woodford, and Tina (Don) Beck; 7 grandchildren: Brent (Robyn) Besaw, Misti (Kevin) Stiles, Dustin (special friend-Amanda) Phillips, Andy Phillips, Amanda Leonard, Tyler (special friend-Kimberly) Besaw, and David "DJ" Leonard; several great grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Terri Matthews, Kay Kussow, Kelli Kussow, Edward (Tina) Ludwig, Jennifer (Jimmy) Lemerand, Autumn Puyleart; brother, Hubert Schraufnagel; sisters-in-law, Donna Schraufnagel and Lois Woodford; brothers-in-law, Eugene Miller and Donald Woodford; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy Sr., and Martha; 4 siblings: Steve, Jim (Elaine), Louie, and Helen Jane; one son-in-law, Mike Besaw; a great-grandchild, Bella Leonard; in-laws: Marilynn Schraufnagel, Willard (Ida Mae), Roy Woodford Jr., Shirley (Don) Jacobs, Beverly Miller, Robert Woodford, Marlene (Jim) Zeller, and Virgina Woodford.
Family and friends may visit Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Green Bay, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., where there will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 650 S. Irwin St., Green Bay. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
