Richard Schlag, 79, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019.
Born on January 9, 1940 in Green Bay, to the late Norbert and Lenore Schlag.
Richard worked as an Electrician at James River/Georgia Pacific Mill for 29 years. He also spent years working landscaping as a side job as he enjoyed working outdoors. Richard’s faith was always important to him and he would never miss church at Celebration Church and distributed communion with a smile and would talk with everyone.
Richard is survived by his five children: Elizabeth (Wayne) Nesmith, Indiana; Jeff (Lynn) Schlag, Green Bay; Jill (Don) Erdmann, Manitowoc; Eric (Michelle) Schlag, Kewaunee; Sara (Mike) Hurley, Green Bay. Nine grandchildren: Brian Karr, Rosemarie, Audrienna and Wayne Jr. Nesmith, Luke and Landon Schlag, Alyssa Erdmann, and Sam and Ben Hurley; one Sister Joann Stepien (Dennis).
He was preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Lenore and his brother Donald.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason St, Green Bay, on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:30 p.m. with Pastor Lathan Duncan officiating. A reception will take place at the funeral home following the memorial service. Richard will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Grancare Nursing Center, Unity Hospice, and Dr. Dhwani Vaishnav from Aurora who has always been there for Richard.
