Nancy C. La Plant, 87, Green Bay, passed away July 22, 2018. Born May 3, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Genevieve and Clarence Du Chateau. Nancy attended St. John grade school, and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1949. She worked at the Green Bay Press-Gazette from 1949 to 1957, advancing from Proofreader to Society Editor.
Nancy married Leonard La Plant, Jr. on April 7, 1956, in Green Bay. After raising her children and volunteering at Resurrection Grade School, she returned to work as a copywriter and freelance writer at Prange’s, Prange-Way, Copps Merchandise Division and other local companies.
Nancy had a lifelong love of words, and they were her hobby as well as her vocation. The conversation and companionship of the women in her book club were one of her great pleasures. She was also an avid shopper and looked forward to shopping excursions to Door County and the Valley to add to her collection of treasures. She loved decorating her home and thought of it as a museum with changing exhibits. Her wit, sense of style, and carefree attitude about life were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda La Plant, De Pere; her son, Guy La Plant (husband, Joe Dykema), Houston, TX; sister-in-law Marilyn Bader; nephews, Steve Bader and Kurt Bader and their families; and other relatives, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joseph Battaglia; her husband, Leonard; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Monday July 30, 2018, from 5pm until the time of the service. Memorial service, 7pm Monday, July 30, 2018, with Sheila DeLuca, Pastoral Associate of Resurrection Church, officiating.
The family gives heartfelt thanks to all of the caregivers who cared for Nancy with kindness and compassion.
