1943 Mary C. (Huxford) Deprey 2025

Mary C. (Huxford) Deprey

June 26, 1943 — November 11, 2025

Green Bay, WI

Mary Charlotte Deprey, née Huxford, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2025.

Born on June 26, 1943, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mary was the daughter of William and Rose Huxford. She attended Annunciation Catholic Grade School and graduated from Green Bay West High School. After high school, she began her career as a keypunch operator with the Neilson Company before relocating to Florida for a time.

Mary returned to Wisconsin where she married her childhood sweetheart James Deprey while he was home on a three-week leave from the U.S. Air Force. She soon joined Jim in Germany, where their first child, Chris, was born. Mary returned to the United States alone with her two-month-old infant—traveling in heels and a suit while managing cloth diapers and glass bottles on an international flight.

Throughout her life, Mary balanced work and family with unwavering dedication. She worked as a cashier at Sentry Foods and later joined Pahlow’s Luggage, Leather & Gifts on Washington Street, where she became assistant manager after her youngest child started school. Though she stepped away from formal employment later in life, Mary never slowed down—keeping an immaculate home, ironing every item that came out of the dryer and caring for her grandchildren full time until they became school aged.

Mary was deeply devoted to her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 62 years, James Deprey; their children Christine Deprey (Jeff Magee), David Deprey, and Rachel Deprey (Clay Thelen); grandchildren Henry Graybeal (Jensen MacKenzie), Michael Deprey (Cristine Larson) and Thomas Graybeal; and great-grandchildren Adalynn Deprey and baby boy Deprey expected in January 2026.

She is also survived by her siblings Richard Huxford (Bev), Dave Huxford, Ginny Jared, Teri Nordby, and Jeanne Schomish (Steve); sisters-in-law Jeri Deprey and Ann Larscheid; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Rose Huxford; siblings Lynn Welsing (Bob), Robert Huxford, and Laverne Nordby; parents-in-law Martin and Charlotte Deprey; Jim’s siblings Donald Deprey; Melvin Deprey (Geri); Larry Deprey (Cathy); Connie Letourneau (Royal); Jean Cartier (Moe); Ceil Patzke (Bob); Karen Collins (Donald); Maryann Prochaska (Dale); Wayne Deprey; Dan Deprey (Mary); Tom Deprey; Ron Deprey; as well as four nephews and two nieces.

Mary was raised in the Catholic tradition and remained a longtime member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. She lived her values through service—as a Girl Scout troop leader and hockey mom—and through her work with Brown County Social Services as a guardian and power of attorney for many individuals. Her contributions were recognized with awards honoring her years of compassionate service.

Mary cherished her close-knit group of childhood friends Barb, Nancy, Barb, Kathy, and Mary. Their bond endured decades through overnight trips and monthly luncheons that continued until just months before her passing. Her home was always spotless and festively decorated inside and out for every holiday—a reflection of the care she poured into all aspects of life.

Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. From infancy onward, she cared for them daily in her home—never missing a school function, performance, or sporting event. The sun rose and set with those three boys.

Mary’s quick wit, resourcefulness during leaner times as Jim built his insurance business, unwavering support for family milestones big or small—all these qualities made her unforgettable to those who knew her.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all medical personnel who provided care to Mary throughout the years; most recently Compassus Hospice Care and Allouez Senior Living, especially LaDonna, and Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.
