Linda Ann DeChamps, 66, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local hospital, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, on July 27, 2013, surrounded by family. Born on April 30, 1947, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Russell, Sr. and Marjorie “Marge” (Schaetz) Burt. She is a 1966 graduate of Green Bay West High School. On October 26, 1968, she married Tom DeChamps at St. Joseph’s Church in Green Bay. Linda was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and the simple things in life. She was a caregiver her whole life, including the exceptional care that she provided to her son-in-law, until her recent illness. She was also a longtime member at Holy Cross-Bay Settlement, where she was a member of the choir. Linda also cherished times spent in “the shop” with her beloved husband.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Tom, Town of Scott; two children, Tom DeChamps, Green Bay, Lisa (Dean) Arcand, Town of Scott; three grandchildren, Gary DeChamps (special friend, Amanda), and Dean and Derek Arcand; three brothers, Russ (Mary) Burt, Bill (Mary) Burt, Pat (Joan) Burt; two sisters, Nancy (Ted) Kuhn, Marie Piechowski; one brother-in-law, Tim (Sherry) DeChamps; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo (Dan) Everard, and Sue Ann (Shawn) Demeny; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob “Birdie” Burt, and infant brother, John; parents; her in-laws, Marvin (Mildred) DeChamps; one brother-in-law, Dave Piechowski; and one sister-in-law, Jean Burt.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home & Crematory, University Ave. at Baird St., Sunday (August 4, 2013) from 4 – 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday (August 5, 2013) at Holy Cross-Bay Settlement, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church with the Rev. Michael Weber, O. Praem, officiating.
She will be deeply missed by all for her joyful spirit, laughter, and endless dimples.
