Kermit George Bourain

August 1, 1938 — September 4, 2022

Kermit George Bourain, 84, of Green Bay passed away September 4, 2022, from Covid pneumonia and Parkinson's complications. Born on August 1, 1938, at the Boulanger farm in Casco he is the son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Dupont) Bourain. Kermit was a graduate of Algoma High School, class of 1957. He served in the 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division of the Wisconsin Army National Guard from September 6, 1961, at Fort Lewis Washington. Kermit married Mary Ann Abts on June 10, 1972, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco with a reception and dinner at Heraly's Hillside Place, Casco. This year they had the privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the Rite Place. He worked at Algoma Hardwoods for 41 years retiring on March 31, 2001.

Kermit and Mary did a lot of traveling in their early years of marriage. Once Kermit's eyesight got worse, they enjoyed going to the casinos together. Kermit also enjoyed many visits, card games, and meals with Aunts and Uncles: Don (Aggie) Pigeon, Cliff and Margie Abts, and cousins Marlene and the late Milton Delwiche. He also enjoyed visiting with other family and friends including the many friends from their apartment complex. Kermit was always willing to try a new place to eat, one of his best hobbies.

Survivors include: Barbara (Bourain) and Wally Krueger, Donald Bourain, Richard and Marcia (Smith) Bourain, and Sharon (Bourain) Corbiser; step brothers, Orvis and Viola (Charles Johnson) Resler, Mel (Jean Hoslet) Resler, David and Sandy (Glysch) Abts, Frank and Shirley (Abts) Bradley, Dale Abts and special friend Donna Daley, Tony and Cheryl (Haumschild) Abts, and Jeff Vandermeuse.

Survivors also include Kermit's Godchildren, Frank Helebrant, Gail Umentum, Shelly Tenor-Lord, Dwayne Abts and many other nieces and nephews.

Those that preceded Kermit in death are his in laws, Robert and Florence (Thiry) Abts, Sr; sister and brother in law, Carol and Frank Helebrant; sister in law June Vandenhouten and his Godparents, Eva Paplham and George Williguette. Other in laws include, Myron Abts, Robert and Joan Abts, Jr, Michael Abts, Nancy Vandermeuse, Daniel Abts, and Marvel Abts.

Visitation at St. Willebrord Parish, 209 S. Adams St, Thursday, September 8, from 8:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum in Green Bay with full military honors.
