Kenneth “Ken” Charles Lyman, 79, of Suamico, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, surrounded by family. Ken was born on March 10th, 1944, in Green Bay, WI, to the late James Lyman and Annabelle (Neimeyer) (Lyman) Eicher.
Ken graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1962. He went on to have a 35 year career with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, retiring in 2002.
Ken was married to Diane (Dischler) Lyman on October 21st, 1972, in Plain, WI. They proudly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last fall with a gathering of family at their home. He often referred to Diane as “the best girl to go with the car he had at the time,” and continually upgraded his collection of vehicles to match Diane over the next half-century.
Ken was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Together, Ken and Diane raised two children, Jaime and Scott. They further welcomed four granddaughters: Emma, Caleigh, Brooklyn, and Ana.
Hobbies included spending time with his family and friends, car shows, road trips, tinkering with projects around the house, and going to “work” at the Home Town Café with friends. Throughout the years he enjoyed being a part of the Garage Sessions group, and more recently Corvettes of the Bay. He was known for his quick wit, and may have used it to “harass” a few people along the way.
Ken is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Jaime Deeslie and her daughters Emma and Caleigh, son Scott (Ashley) Lyman and their daughters Brooklyn and Ana. He is further survived by his aunt Ellen Lyman, nephew Trevor (Jennifer) Lyman, in-laws Joe (Betty) Dischler, Dave (Alice) Dischler, Jan (Ken) Hendricks, Ray (Susan) Dischler, Sylvia Hughes, Marty (Bob) Gates, Damian (Karen) Dischler, Julie (Paul) Gaustad, Dean (Joanne) Dischler, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ernest Eicher, brothers Dick (Diana) Lyman and Gary Lyman, Diane’s parents Thomas and Marie Dischler, in-laws Debbie Dischler and Cal Hughes.
Visitation will be held at Malcore Funeral Home & Crematory, 1530 West Mason Street, Green Bay, WI, on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, from 3pm-7pm.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the teams at Bellin Health (Emergency Services, Procedural and Surgical Services, Interventional Radiology, Medical and Surgical Units, Palliative Care, as well as the Intensive Care Unit) for their kindness, compassion, and care during this challenging time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Bellin Health Foundation in Ken’s name.
