John “Jack” Anthony Beno died peacefully on March 20, 2018, with his children by his side. Born on June 7th, 1933, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late John and Dorothy (Lurquin) Beno. He started working at a young age on local farms doing odd jobs. Dad always said he had a full life with very few regrets. Talking about the past, going for rides up north, trips to his lot on St. Germaine, polkas and country music were some of his favorite things. Before Dad left to serve in the Korean Conflict, he married our mom, Joann Shirley (Belongea) Beno on November 29, 1952. Dad served for two years in the Korean War, returning home after 32 ½ days on the Pacific, stating he was "home at last."
He went to work with his Father at John J. Beno Plumbing & Heating, a company that his father started in 1926. Dad and his two brothers, Jerry and Pat, took over the business and carried the business forward, handing it off to their sons, Greg, Jim, and Dan Beno. Beno Plumbing continues today with Matt Beno representing the fourth generation.
Dad is survived by his children, Gregory L. (Jo) Beno, Cynthia (Patrick J.) Larscheid, and Leanne (Paul B.) Libal, all of Green Bay; grandchildren, Benjamin J. (Colleen) Beno, Amber D. (Luis) Hernandez, Robert A. (Alyssa) Larscheid, Anna L. Larscheid (fiancé, Brandon Stone), Toni C. Rieder, and Matthew J. Rieder; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Thomas Beno and Patrick Beno; one sister, Mary Lou (Donald) Vanden Avond; and our Mom, Joann S. Beno; and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane M. Beno; his parents, John and Dorothy; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Richard (Joyce) Beno, and Jerry (Patricia) Beno; one sister, Dorothy L. Lutomski; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Beno and Louvain Beno.
