Jean Elizabeth (Caldie) Wiegand, age 91, went home to the loving arms of her Father in heaven on Sunday, February 25, 2018.
From her birth in Stiles Junction, WI, on July 11, 1926 to Andrew and Estella (McKeever) Caldie. Until her death on Sunday, she nourished people around her with love, faith, friendship and good food. A woman of great kindness, Jean was remarkable in her understanding spirit and love of life.
A graduate of Green Bay West High School, she married Richard "Dick" Wiegand on October 25, 1947. Jean worked for the financial aid department at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she cultivated life long relationships.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, Mary (Gary) Finley of Bailey, Colorado; Tom (Claire) Wiegand of Peoria, Ill; and Nancy (Chet) Wojciehowski of Greenville,WI.
Jean (and her molasses cookies) will be fondly remembered by nine grand children, Jason (Michelle) Finley, Jessica (Todd) Finley-Brown, Josie (Tom) Dostie, Andrew (Kathleen) Wojnoonski, Daniel (Shannon) Mesenhowski, Lauren (and Kevin) Gauerke, Gerard (Maren) Wiegand, Gabrielle Wiegand (Craig Janssen), and Claire (Chris) Simms. Thirteen great-grandchildren will miss the unconditional love and support of their “Nanny”.
She will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John "Jack" Caldie, and loving husband, Dick.
Never one to be idle, her free moments were filled with knitting, ceramics, walking, reading and card games (poker club, bridge club, and “Domino Dollies”). She provided comfort to many with homemade goodies; her refrigerator and heart were always full and ready for company.
A memorial Mass to celebrate Jean's life will be held Tuesday March 6, 2018, 10:30 AM at her parish, Ss. Peter and Paul at 710 N. Baird St. A luncheon will be held in her honor immediately after Mass at the Rite Place, 1580 Bellevue St.
