Jean (Van Lanen) Molzahn passed away on December 28, 2018. Born July 9th, 1931, daughter of Antone Van Lanen and Anna Hermes, Jean was the 13th of 14 children. She married Darrel Molzahn on June 7th, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 2015. Together they raised five sons: Mike (Green Bay), Tom (San Antonio, TX), Jeff (Madison), Chris (Green Bay), and Patrick (Madison). She leaves behind 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
A talented homemaker and decorator, Jean loved to sew and create clothing and household items. She served many roles during her life. In her early years, Jean studied nursing at the St. Vincent School of Nursing in Chicago. Later in life she worked for Singer, and eventually purchased the Dairy Queen on Green Bay’s north side, which she managed from 1977-1985.
During retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling and square dancing with her husband, Darrel. Her life changed dramatically in 2000, when she underwent knee surgery. She never fully recovered from the surgery and spent her final years battling the debilitating condition. We remember her best for the years prior to this, and the energetic spirit she brought to the world.
Visitation at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 Adams St., Wednesday, January 2, from 8:30 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM with Rev. Andrew Cribben, O. Praem officiating.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy please consider an act of kindness or a donation to the American Heart Association in honor of the many hours she and Darrel spent volunteering for this organization.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brown County Bayshore Nursing Care Facility.
