Jacqueline “Jackie” Faye Spears (Kasuboski) age 90, passed away May 1, 2023, at Good Shepard Nursing Home in Seymour, Wisconsin.
Jacqueline was born October 24, 1932, in Clintonville, Wisconsin to Stanley and Alice (Klemz) Kasuboski and grew up in Shawano, Wisconsin. While growing up she enjoyed going to movies and twirling around the ice-skating rink. Jackie loved to skate, and was quite a talented ice skater. When Jackie was eight years-old she suddenly lost her father Stanley. After a few years of heartbreak her mother Alice married Fred Waelchli Sr. Alice and Fred filled Jackie’s life with 3 siblings Richard “Dick”, Patricia “Pat” and Fred Jr. who she adored. She loved watching over her younger brothers and sister which was the beginning of her caretaker heart of service.
As Jackie grew older she married her first husband and bore a daughter Karen and a son John who she considered to be her greatest blessings. Jackie’s home was always open to family to stay as needed. She was always concerned with making sure everyone was comfortable and well fed. She also had a love for caring for animals and she always welcomed any new animals Karen and John found to bring home. After great hardship she divorced and years later found David Spears, the love of her life. Jackie and David married December 22, 1970. Jackie not only gained a husband in marriage but a sister and best friend, Lucy.
Jackie worked at St. Mary’s hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin as a Nursing Assistant. She loved working at St. Mary’s and was able to let her caretaker heart shine bright in this role. She was very proud of her many years there and enjoyed the many people she worked with both at that hospital and whom she helped throughout the years. After her time at St. Mary’s, she worked as a Home Health Aid for Aging Resources before retiring.
In retirement Jackie came to all of her grandchildren’s different events and helped to babysit and dog sit whenever her family needed. She loved watching Wisconsin sports, especially the packers (GO PACK!), coupon clipping, and watching anything about animals or ice skating. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Jackie’s life of caretaking and heart of service was easily seen by all that knew her. Her family and friends have been gratefully blessed by her years of selfless care, welcoming spirit, overwhelming kindness and love. She always had a Readers Digest joke to cheer up someone’s day. She also went out of her way to call to make sure you knew exactly what time and station the packers and brewers played. Her many other thoughtful acts of love and kindness will be deeply missed.
Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Spears. Her parents Stanley Kasuboski and Alice (Klemz) and step-father Fred Waelchli Sr, her brother Richard “Dick” Waelchli, brother-in-law Micky Coleman, and sister-in-law Lucille “Lucy” Coleman.
Jackie is survived by her children Karen (Keating) husband Mark Lurquin, their son Derek Lurquin and daughter Stephanie husband Ben Gohlke and step great-grandchildren Gianna and Vincent. John Keating wife Peggy (McFarlane) and their daughter Jamie husband Josh Rybak. Along with her sibling's sister-in-law Adel (Dick) Waelchli, sister Patricia (Jerry) Johnson, and brother Fred (Lynn) Waelchli Jr.
