Harry E. Vanden Plas Jr., 86, Green Bay, died peacefully at Wisconsin Veterans Home on November 12, 2016. Born on August 14, 1930, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Harry Sr. and Mildred (Daniels) Vanden Plas. Harry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950-1953, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. On June 2, 1956, he married the former Bonnie De Baker at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Harry worked at Diana Manufacturing as an electrician until his retirement in 1993. In retirement, he worked part-time in security at St. Norbert College until approximately 2013. Harry enjoyed golfing and saw sharpening.
Harry is survived by six children, Paul (Jill) Vanden Plas, Mark (Debbie) Vanden Plas, Randy (Dixie) Vanden Plas, Penny Davis, Kelly (Tabbi) Vanden Plas, and Terry (Kelly) Vanden Plas; 22 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; one son Tim Vanden Plas; and four sisters and their spouses.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Prayer service 6:00 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Patrick Gawrlewski, OFM. Eulogy and final prayers 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. They would also like to express their gratitude to a special family friend, Anne Guerin, for her caring companionship.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
