Claire M. Thomas, 83, passed away May 17, 2024. Born May 12, 1941, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Winford N. and Harriet (Vanden Heuvel) Thomas. Claire graduated from St. Matthew's class of '55 and then she went to St. Joseph's Academy, graduating in '59. Claire had worked for many years for the Diocese of Green Bay, serving as Director of Mission Outreach and was a life-long member of St. Matthew's Parish. She will be remembered as a caretaker of many close family members over the years. Claire enjoyed riding her Schwinn tandem with her twin sister, Carole, in her younger years. She also enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, spending time with her dear friends and especially loved times spent with her nieces and nephews.
Claire is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ellie, Linda, and Val. Claire is also the beloved aunt of 24 nieces and nephews, as well as a great aunt to their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Win (Audrey) Thomas, Larry Thomas, Gerald (Eunice) Thomas, Norbert Thomas and Jim Thomas; sisters, Lorraine Thomas, Marilyn (Al) Stary, Janice Thomas, Dolores Thomas and her twin sister, Carole Thomas.
Visitation at St. Matthew Church, 130 St. Matthew Street, Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10am until the funeral. Funeral Mass 11:30am Thursday at the church with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is serving the family.
The family extends a special thank you to the caring staffs of McCormick Home Assisted Living and Unity Hospice. Claire would also want us to thank those family members who went above and beyond in assisting her in her final years.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Unity Hospice or St. Matthew's Parish in Claire's name.
