Carol M. Nelson, 87, Green Bay, passed through the Heavenly Gates to enter the arms of her loved ones early Thursday morning, July 11, 2019, at a local nursing home with family by her side. Born August 5, 1931, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Jenny (Murray) DeGroot. Carol married Robert F. Nelson on May 1, 1954, at Saints Peter and Paul Parsonage and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2005. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish her entire life. Carol will be remembered for her cross-stitch, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Carol was a dedicated, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Carol is survived by four children, Clyde (Wendy) Nelson, Merrill, Daniel (Kathy) Nelson, Seymour, Anna (Dan) Bonjean, Green Bay and Larry (Reyne) Nelson, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Douglas Jackson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert; parents; and her twin brother, Carl DeGroot; brothers, Edward, Robert, Elmer and William; and sisters, Mildred, Loretta, Margaret and Frances.
Visitation at Malcore Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Wed. July 17, 2019 from 4-8pm. Parish Wake service 7pm, Wed. at the funeral home. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral home from 9am until the time of the funeral at church. Funeral Mass 10:30am at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Internment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
