Wayne J. "Twigs" De Jardin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wayne J. “Twigs” De Jardin 72 of Green Bay, passed away peacefully due to Covid-19 complications on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at a local hospital. Born February 23,1949, in Champion, he is the son of the late Clarence and Doris (Van Den Houten) De Jardin. Wayne graduated in 1967 as part of the last class of Luxemburg High School where he was an avid wrestler. On December 4, 1970, he married Judy A. Schade at St Philip the Apostle Church in Green Bay. Wayne was owner of Wayne De Jardin Maple Products. He loved making maple syrup and sharing it with friends and family and his customers. Wayne had been a member of Local 1146 Carpenter’s union and later he became a Millwright with local 1056 until his retirement. He had been a member of the Wisconsin Jaycees and Northeast Wisconsin Businessman Association. Wayne volunteered at St. Bernard’s parish in Green Bay for many years helping on the church picnic making Booyah. He was a man of deep faith and shared it with others. Wayne loved to dance and wasn’t afraid to be the first one on the dance floor. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his son, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephew and friends. His favorite saying was, “Well, this is living!” He loved visiting with those at the nursing home. Wayne freely shared his time and talents with others and he loved his granddaughters very much. Wayne loved being in the woods and on September 11th of this year, he had completed his wayside chapel on the family’s property in Michigan. The chapel was blessed and celebrated in honor of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Judy; their son, Christopher and his wife Wendi along with their two children, Alexis De Jardin and Rachael De Jardin and her fiance, Brody Vander Perren. Wayne is further survived by his brothers, Denis (Bonnie) De Jardin and Stephen (Kathy) De Jardin; his sisters, Betty (Roger) Schroeder, Sharon (Chuck) Bergner, Judy Watzka, and Mary Lorberblatt; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Duane) Schroeder, Christine Kloehn, Jean (Steve) Schartner, Laurie (Matt) Schlichting and Paula De Jardin; brother-in-law, Julian Romuald. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Doris De Jardin; brothers, Marvin Donald and Marvin T. (Marie), and Cletus; sisters, Bernice (Herbie) Duescher, Joan Romuald; brothers-in-law, Jerry Lorberblatt and Donald La Fave, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Doris Schade; and two great-nieces, Lilly La Fave and Lydia Belanger. Visitation at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay, Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, from 2pm until the time of the parish wake service. Wake service, 5pm Sunday at the church with Deacon Bernard Terrien officiating. Visitation will continue Monday morning at the church from 9:30am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 11:30am at the church with Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Fallen Timbers in Black Creek in memory of Wayne. The De Jardin Family extends a special note of thanks to the doctors and staff of both the 7th and 4th floors of St. Vincent Hospital. They showed great kindness, empathy, compassion, and dedication during this difficult time.
