Robert H. Dequaine

Robert “Bob” H. Dequaine, 84, New Franken, lost his battle with dementia on November 21, 2017, surrounded by family. Born on August 1, 1933, in Door County, he is the son of the late George and Myrtle (DeWitte) Dequaine. Bob is a graduate of Luxemburg Casco. On February 7, 1953, he married the former Margaret “Joan” Brice at St. Willebrord Church. Bob and Joan owned and operated a small family farm in Champion for many years. Worked at Schreiber Foods for 42 years. Bob enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses, and camping. After retirement he and Joan enjoyed camping in their RV, and spent winters in Arizona at Desert Gardens RV Park, where Bob helped around the grounds.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joan; seven children and their spouses, Patty (Jack) Koss, Stan (Jeanette) Dequaine, Rick Dequaine (special friend Debbie), Randy Dequaine, Wendy (Steven) Koss, Gary (Jill) Dequaine, Scott Dequaine (fiancée, Natalie); 12 grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Dequaine, Jesse (Carrie) Dequaine, Brandon (Angie) Koss, Brooke (Jake) Anderson, Derrick (Holly) Koss, Danielle Koss (special friend, Travis), Dessiray Koss (fiancé, Jasmine), Blayne (Tiffany) Dequaine, Chelsey Dequaine (special friend, Jordan), Justin Demullen, Jodi Dequaine-Meyer (special friend, Andy), Jennifer (Bill) Messerschmidt, Kristy (Joe) Ciha, and Cory Dequaine; 16 great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Jeanette Dequaine, Dorothy “Cookie” Slimmer, Barb (James) Ness, Ruth Brice, and Ellen Brice; one brother-in-law, Ronald Flavian; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Dequaine; two sisters, Elaine Flavian, Laverne Russell; one grandchild, Melanie Koss one sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) DeMuth; four brothers-in-law, Norbert Brice, Richard Brice, Donald (Marcella) Brice, and Robert Brice; in-laws, Lester and Ann Brice.

Visitation at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, 2770 Bay Settlement Rd., Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral service 12:00 p.m. (noon) Wednesday in the chapel at the mausoleum. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, 432-5579.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Parkview Manor who gave Bob the best care possible. He truly felt at home.
