Norbert Wayne Wendricks

April 30, 1941 — August 12, 2022

Norbert Wayne Wendricks, 81, Green Bay, passed away at home Friday morning, August 8, 2022. Born April 30, 1941, in Green Bay, he was the son of the late Lawrence "Peg" and Dione (Lemerond) Wendricks. Norbert was a graduate of West High School, Class of '59. He served in the US Navy from 1960-1964, when he was honorably discharged. Norbert married Jean Coppens on April 20, 1968 at St. Peter and Paul Church, Green Bay. He graduated in 1976 from UW-Green Bay with a BA in Science and pursued a career in the health care field. He eventually landed at the Brown County Mental Health Center working with patients with drug and alcohol issues. Norbert returned to NWTC and obtained his associate degree in nursing in 1993. With this degree, he eventually retired from the Brown County Jail, Health Services Unit.

Norbert was an advocate for animal rescue and loved his many parrots. He also enjoyed gardening, crocheting many baby blankets and afghans for relatives and friends, camping, took dance classes and was the star at any dance or wedding, and of course loved his Green Bay Packers.

Norbert was a fiercely dedicated family man and a wonderful Papa.

Norbert is survived by wife of 54 years, Jean; daughter, Jennifer (Geof) Patefield; granddaughter, Zella; grandson, Henry; sister-in-law, Judy (Don Romenesko) Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death his parents; brothers, Tom (Bernice), Bob (Phyllis), Larry and Roger (Pat); further preceded in death by brothers-in-law, John Hill and Frank Fanello.

Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason Street, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 4-8pm. Parish wake service, 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation continues Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at St. Jude church, 1420 Division Street, Green Bay, from 10am until the time of the mass. Funeral mass 11am Wednesday at the church. Full military honors will follow at the church. Burial will take place in Fort Howard Memorial Park.

Norbert's family extends a special thank you to all those who have provided help and support over the last year, especially Marcy and Jose Diaz, Timmy and Kayla Kali, Josh; and to the Green Bay Police Department for their passion and support during a difficulty, especially Sean Hamill.
