March 8, 1936 - October 20, 2021
Nancy (Cygan) Albers, Green Bay, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Albers and both her parents. Nancy is survived by her children Walter (Glenda) Albers, The Villages, FL; Anne (Randy) Ledvina, Green Bay; Rebecca (Robert) Totzke, Appleton; Jeanne (David) Konwal, Combined Locks; Claudia (Terry) Ziegler, The Villages, FL; and Cynthia (Rik) Akey, Milwaukee; grandchildren, Kevin and Steven Konwal, and Samuel Ledvina; step-grandchildren, Brian and Jason Boerner, and Brandon and Jacob Ledvina; sister Barbara (Walter) Griffith, The Villages, FL; sister-in-law Helen Massey, Two Rivers; many nieces and nephews. She was born in Green Bay on March 8, 1936, to Walter and Daisy Cygan. She graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1954 as an honor student. After high school, she worked as an administrative assistant to the principal at Roosevelt, Whitney, and Nicolet Elementary Schools in Green Bay. She married the love of her life and square-dancing partner Robert J. Albers on June 21, 1958, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. Nancy’s life was dedicated to raising a family and helping others. She loved and enjoyed raising children and had six children with Robert. Nancy helped care for many more children throughout her life including those of neighbors, relatives, and her own grandchildren. She was always ready to read a story or tie a shoe. Nancy was a Girl Scout. Wanting to help children develop their full potential, she served as an assistant scout leader for both girl and boy scout troops. As her own children were growing up, Nancy became a part-time school aide for the Green Bay Public School District. An avid reader and lifelong learner, she studied American Sign Language (ASL) and braille to better help the students where she worked. For many years, she volunteered her impeccable office and organizational skills at the RSVP (Retired/Senior Volunteer Program) Volunteer Center of Brown County. Proud of her Polish heritage, she embraced learning the language and the skill of making pysanky decorated eggs for Easter. A skilled homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and needlecraft. She artfully made clothes and toys for her children. She loved music, playing the piano and encouraged her children to play instruments as well. A fan of old movies and musicals, many Saturdays were spent sharing her favorite films with her children and grandchildren. At the family’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, we ask that friends visit Bay Beach Amusement Park Pavilion where Nancy and Robert met square dancing and experience the beauty of the bay of Green Bay. Visit www.malcorefuneralhome.com to send an online condolence to the family. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Green Bay Children’s Museum (https://gbchildrensmuseum.org/) or the RSVP (Retired/Senior Volunteer Program) Volunteer Center of Brown County (https://volunteergb.org/).
