Marie Tonnon

Marie (McLellan) Tonnon ended her battle with metastatic breast cancer on November 23, 2021 at the age of 77.

Marie was the beloved eldest child of Sandy and Belle McLellan. She was raised in Antigo, WI with her siblings Rob (Jean) McLellan, Frank McLellan (deceased), Nancy (Andy) Jacobs and Kathleen McLellan.

Marie married the love of her life, Wayne Tonnon, in 1968. They shared a beautiful life in Green Bay, WI raising their four wonderful daughters - Anne (Jeremy) Tonnon-Byers, Heather Tonnon, Mary (Sven) Richter, and Tessa Tonnon (Michelle Lippincott). Marie was also blessed with eight amazing grandchildren - Kathleen (Brandon) Lehrer, Michael and Nicholas Larson;Henry and Evan Byers; Isabella, Maximilian, and Simon Richter. Marie has one precious great-grandchild, Lane Lehrer, as well.

Marie and Wayne moved from Green Bay to Suamico in retirement and enjoyed the gorgeous views of Lake Michigan. They enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, FL and summering at the cottage that her father and grandfather built on Bass Lake in Antigo, WI. What made these places so special to Marie was the time spent with her dear friends and family. Her family and friends cherished time spent with her as she had a joy for life, an exuberant personality, and cared deeply for those she loved.

In her life, Marie was a teacher, business woman, mentor, artist, poet, storyteller, great cook and gardener. Most importantly she led a full life as a friend, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Throughout her life she enjoyed and shared her love of the creative process. Her work captured her love of life and the importance of family. She strove to help others heal and become all they could through story and artistic expression.

Marie’s family wants to thank all of the wonderful caregivers that made her transition more comfortable.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Malcore Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason St., on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 9 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM.

Wellspring is a daytime resource center just for women in the heart of downtown Green Bay. The center provides a peaceful, caring place to connect with other women who are facing similar issues and difficulties, especially when their lives get very challenging. For many women in transition, Wellspring serves as another family, a place to belong, a friend away from home – with programming focusing on mind, body and spirit.

Wellspring serves more than 300 women who visit more than 4,200 times a year seeking peer support, personal growth opportunities, resources and referrals. We welcome any woman who is at least 18 years old. The center is open from Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.

Wise Women Gathering Place is a transitional living program to assist individuals and children recovering from domestic abuse in Green Bay.
