Madeline “Mac” M. Monfils, 85, Green Bay, found eternal rest Thursday evening, May 29, 2014, at a local hospital. Born December 17, 1928, in New Franken, she is the daughter of the late Reinhart and Lillian (Hetzler) Zehms. On February 7, 1948, Madeline married Darrell J. Monfils at St. Killian’s Church in New Franken; he preceded her in death on February 25, 2008. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful cook and baker. Everyone who would visit, stopped at her cookie jar to treat themselves to her “famous chocolate chip cookies”. Madeline was an avid reader and she enjoyed traveling to visit her children. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, some of whom she was a caregiver.
Madeline is survived by seven children and their spouses, Susan Gezella (Bill Anderson), Green Bay, Cyndie (Bruce) Soquet, New Franken, Janet Sigmund, Green Bay, Randy (Cindy) Monfils, Fischer, TX, Robert “Bob” (Maureen) Monfils, Green Bay, Richard “Dick” (Jill) Monfils, De Pere, and Lori Schulz, Peoria, AZ; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Todd), Jenny (Scott), Becky, Kim, Christopher (fiancee’ Claire), Ryan, Jacob, Justin and Dakota; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Rylee, Madisen, and Ian; twin sister, Adeline “Addie” Angerer, Minnesota; one brother, Louis (Joan) Zehms, New Franken; three sisters-in-law, Pat Zehms, Suamico, Marie (Cary) Zarnoth, Green Bay, Agnes “Aggie” (Jack) Curry, Newburg; very special friends, Rosemary Rasmussen, Green Bay, Julie and Jason Baierl, New Franken; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; one son, Darrell, Jr.; one sister, Alvina (Carl) Smeester; and one brother, Carl Zehms.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Tuesday, June 3, from 4p.m. until the time of the service at 7p.m. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
