Mabel (Hansford) Gaecke, 95, Green Bay, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, surrounded by her family. Born on May 25, 1918, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Hansford. Mabel married James Gaecke on April 19, 1941, in Marinette, WI, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1970. They owned the Boots and Saddles riding stables in Green Bay for many years. They later moved to California and owned a statuary business. The couple then had their daughter, Linda Gaecke. They moved back to Green Bay in 1968 to be closer to family. Mabel enjoyed playing music, dancing, supper clubs, meeting friends, and going for long drives watching for horses. She always had a smile on her face and with that she brought a smile to everyone’s face.
Mabel is survived by her one daughter, Linda Gaecke; two sisters, Doris Malfroid, and Elizabeth Schroeder; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; brothers and sisters; and special friend, Norb.
Visitation at Malcore Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason St., Thursday from 4 PM until the time of the memorial service at 7 PM with Pastor Steve Fewell officiating.
