Sister Loretta was born on July 31, 1934, to parents Emil J. and Helen (Miller) Beyer in Chicago, Illinois. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on February 11, 1953, and professed her final vows on August 15, 1960. S. Loretta received her bachelor’s degree in education from Fontbonne College in 1966.

S. Loretta began her 61 years of ministry as an elementary grade school teacher. From 1955 until 1971 she taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grade School, Kansas City, Missouri; St. Paul Grade School, Negaunee, Michigan; All Saints Grade School, University City, Missouri; St. Patrick Grade School, Sedalia, Missouri; St. Patrick Grade School, Denver, Colorado; Nativity of Our Lord Grade School, Chicago; and St. Agnes Grade School, St. Louis.

After teaching S. Loretta began 14 years of service as a secretary at Bishop Healy Grade School and the Provincialate Offices, both in St. Louis; Holy Cross in Los Angeles; St. Benedict Center for the Deaf in San Francisco; and at St. Pius Parish in Redwood, California.

In 1985, Sister Loretta served five years in family care in Redwood. Two years later, she was the religious education director at St. Ann in Lexington, Nebraska. Then, she briefly returned to teaching for one year at Sacred Heart Grade School in Nogales, Arizona. She went on to participate at Derham Community in St. Paul, Minnesota for a year.

In 1995, she moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. She served as a receptionist at Notre Dame de la Baie Academy until 2000, and, then, as a pastoral minister at Sts. Peter and Paul until her retirement in 2006.

S. Loretta moved to Nazareth Living Center in 2008 where she served in prayer and witness until her passing.

Visitation at Saints Peter and Paul Parish, 710 N. Baird St., Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass of Remembrance 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Tom Farrell officiating.
