Joyce E. Nemath

April 17, 1928 — May 1, 2018

Joyce E. Nemath, age 90, of Shawano, entered Eternal Life on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. She was born April 17, 1928 in the Town of Genesee to the late Lester and Olive (Harrington) Williams. She graduated from Mukwonago High School with the class of 1946. Following graduation, she worked in the Waukesha County Clerk’s office. She met her future husband, Alexander Nemath, at a local dance. They were married September 9, 1950. The couple lived in Muskego until 1962, at which time they moved to Bonduel where they bought a dairy farm. She was very proud of the fact they were producing food for members of their community. They raised their family on the farm and eventually retired to Shawano Lake to enjoy their retirement years. Joyce enjoyed watching birds, writing poetry, was an avid Wisconsin sports follower, liked a good political conversation, and she had a soft spot for animals.

Joyce is survived by her 3 children: Joy (Randy) Van Den Elzen, Corinne Van Lanen, Donna (Todd) Martin; 4 grandchildren: Gregory Van Den Elzen, Ashlee Van Den Elzen, Mackenzie Van Lanen, and Carmen Van Lanen; 2 great-grandchildren: Ellie Van Den Elzen and Maya Van Den Elzen; 2 sisters: Elaine Jaeger and Emareen Gass.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Alexander Nemath; 3 brothers: Raymond, Charles, and Orlin Williams.

A private family gathering will take place.

Joyce’s family would like to thank the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living in De Pere for their compassionate care.
