James W Murray

August 6, 1925 — April 7, 2014

James W. Murray, 88, Green Bay, passed away peacefully April 7, 2014, surrounded by the praying hands of his family. Born on August 6, 1925, in Green Bay he is the son of the late James H. and Agnes (Spreutels) Murray. He was a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul and East High School. He served in the United States Naval Airforce from 1943 until 1946. James was a gunner protecting support ships in WWII. He worked at Wisconsin Public Service for 38 years as a lineman foreman in Green Bay finishing as a supervisor in Minocqua and retiring at the home he built in Mountain, WI. James was very proud of being an active union member and steward with WPS. He enjoyed cards, and fishing especially trout and stream fishing. James attended Packer games at Lambeau Field and was one of the original Green Bay Packer season ticket holders. Jim's life long passion for gardening started at a young age with his sister, Joyous selling vegetables out of their wagon throughout the neighborhood. James loved driving on the back roads of the United States. For over 20 years he spent his winters in Florida and Arizona.

James is survived by his wife, Lorraine; six children, Vickie (Jim) Hunt of Abrams, Christine (Steve) Voelker of Kewaunee, Jillaine (Dale) Seltzer of Suamico, Joel Murray of Green Bay, Dawn Murray of Newport Beach, CA, Maria (Jeff) Boll of Ashwaubenon; Daughter in law, Sandra Murray (Ernest Galaza) of Green Bay; thirteen grandchildren, Sara Kennedy, Angie (Tom) Van Lanen, Bill (Jayne) Voelker, Nikki (Tim) Geocaris, Chad (Jennifer) Voelker, David (Bobbie Jo) Martinson, Allyson (Shad) Loch, Andrew (Sara) Seltzer, Taylor Boll, Brennen Boll, Chuck Pleuss, Emma Jean Murray, Alyssa Jo Murray; sixteen great grandchildren, Cole VanLanen, Megan and Samantha Voelker, Timmy and Tommy Geocaris, Max, Kylie, Charlie, and Brittany Voelker, Helena and David Martinson, Autumn Rose Loch, Brianna Pleuss, Kira Pleuss, Collin Pleuss, Mikayla Pleuss, two great great granddaughters Ayanna and Kianna Pleuss. Lorraine's children, Rebecca (Lee) Brodersen of Oshkosh, Bridget (Roger) Puyleart of Sobieski, Jennifer Whitcomb of Green Bay, and Jeffrey (Betty) Banta of Syracuse, NY and Lorraine's grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce (Banta) Murray; one son, James A. Murray; one great grandchild, Amber Rose Loch and one sister, Joyous (James) Basten; many other extended family and friends

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home 701 N. Baird St Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Military Honors to follow.

His children would like to give a sincere thank you to his wife Lorraine, Kim, Dee, and Molly for the wonderful care given at home. Also a special thank you to the staff of 9th floor St. Vincents Hospital, and The Jack and Ingrid Meng Residence.
