James "Jim" Gore

December 25, 1928 — March 29, 2015

James S. Gore, 86, Green Bay, passed away Sunday morning, March 29, 2015. Born December 25, 1928, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Glenn and Eleanor (Ashley) Gore. Jim was a life-long Green Bay resident. After graduating from East High School, Jim faithfully served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-48, with the Air Group 32 Fighter Squadron aboard the aircraft carriers U.S.S. Boxer and Saratoga. He married the former Jane Ellen Baum on August 12, 1950, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Jim was a dedicated employee of Green Bay Packaging, retiring in 1990 after 42 years of faithful service. He was a supporter of youth athletics and served as a Little League coach and also coached basketball for Saints Peter and Paul grade school. Jim was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish. He received the Wisconsin Medal of Valor from the Sheriff’s Department and a Certificate of Merit from the Fire Department for his help in rescuing a woman from the Fox River. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of woodworking, completing home and cottage repairs, working in his basement workshop, and fixing anything that was broken. As Jim would say, “Jack of all trades but master of none”. Jim liked being at the cottage on the bay fishing, playing horseshoes or any other yard game, sitting on his swing and enjoying the campfire with his family and friends. After his retirement, Jim wrote a book about his life for his three children sharing the memories of his childhood until the present. Jim loved raising his family and spending time with them. After his journey through this life was completed, the Good Lord came to take his hand and lead him home to be with all his family, friends and relatives that had gone home before him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jane; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob (Debbie) Gore of Green Bay; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie (Bert) Malchow of Suamico and Julie (John) Sandstrom of Hortonville; four grandchildren, David (Holly) Gore, Jenny (Todd) Brice, Jensen and Jordin Sandstrom; two great-grandsons, Johnny and Ben Gore; four great-granddaughters, Mya Gore, Ava Brice, Annie and Harriet Gore; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold “Lee” (Lynn) Gore, of Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, John (Anita), Jerry (Irene), Bill (Lorraine) and Gene; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice (Ed) Buyarski, Ruth Gore, and Lois Wickman.
