Ione Betty Gerhartz, 88, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local hospital on June 14, 2015. Born on January 27, 1927, in Appleton, she is the daughter of the late George and Martha (Neunfeldt) Baer. On June 25, 1947, she married Robert Gerhartz in Little Chute, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2005. Ione was a long-time employee at H.C. Prange and Prange Way. She enjoyed feeding the birds, and was an avid shoe and salt-n-pepper shaker collector. Ione had a great sense of humor, and cherished spending time with family, especially her great grandson, Jake. She will be remembered for her kind gifts of candy to friends and family. She was also a long-time member at Saints Peter and Paul Church.
She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Morrow, Green Bay, Carol Kruse (special friend, David Pribyl), Little Suamico, Curt Gerhartz (special friend, Christine), Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Vandervelden, Brian and Susan Gerhartz, Kevin, Debbie, Jodell, Jessie, and Zachary; 15 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Ebbie Baer; and one sister, Marian Riechelt.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the procession to church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St., with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM officiating. Burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
