Howard J. Kiefert, 96, Green Bay, passed away after a brief illness early Friday morning, April 24, 2015, at a local nursing home. Born May 15, 1918, he is the son of the late Henry and Anne (Belanger) Kiefert. Howard married the former Odile Boulanger on September 23, 1939, in Dubuque, IA. Together, the couple enjoyed camping, fishing, and bowling. Odile preceded him in death on July 30, 2008. Howard was employed as a machinist all of his life for a number of companies, retiring from Renco Machine Co. at the age of 63. He was member of St. Willebrord Parish. In his younger days, Howard was a gifted pitcher in numerous softball leagues. Howard was a devoted and dedicated husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and was about to become a great-great grandpa later this year.
Howard is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Rusty Engelmann, Town of Glenmore; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle (Brad) Witbro, Darren (Leah) Engelmann, Eric (Robin) Engelmann, Curtis Engelmann, Debbie Kiefert, Steve Kiefert, and Danny Kiefert; five great-grandchildren, Jonathon (Emily) Engelmann, Jennifer (friend, Justin) Engelmann, Amanda (Sam) Ramey, and Alexus and Gabrielle Engelmann; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Kiefert and Val Boulanger; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 69 years, Odile; one son, John “Jack” Kiefert; sisters, Mag (Gilbert) Beauleau, Ruby (Norbert) Romnek, Margaret (Jerry) Champagne; one brother, Bernard Kiefert; sister-in-law, Rita (Elmer) DeJardin; brother-in-law, Richard Boulanger.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 North Baird Street, Sunday, April 26th, from 12 noon until the time of the funeral. Funeral 4pm Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew G. Cribben, O. Praem. officiating. Entombment in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
