Gaynell Loretta Brunette

November 14, 1922 — January 20, 2016

Gaynell Loretta Brunette, 93, daughter of the late Archie and Beulah Murray, passed away on January 20, 2016 in Waupaca. A long-time resident of Green Bay, WI, Gay lived the past six years at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Gay was always the first to arrive to help when children were born and milestones were celebrated. She was the best mother-in-law anyone could ask for. Gay never said a critical word and welcomed everyone to the family with open arms.

A long time-member of St. Philip Parish in Green Bay, Gay became a tireless volunteer both at St. Philip School and Premontre High School. Her energy and cheerfulness made her the first choice for many projects. She bragged that “she never missed a party.” Ever the optimist, Gay was known to say, “Nothing bad has ever happened to me.” Gay’s upbeat personality earned her a large circle of friends and made her the center of her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Gay’s final years were thoroughly enjoyed at the King VA Home, where her roommate Ruth Gravelle provided deep friendship and support. Gay and her family wish to recognize and thank King’s staff for their caring and dedicated service.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Vernon) Heyrman, two sons, Jim (Margie), Brunette, and Richard (Jane) Brunette; one brother, Mel Murray; two sisters-in-law, Betty Anderle and Jean Landrum; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Gay is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Brunette, Sr.; one brother, James Murray; and one granddaughter, Renee Heyrman.

Visitation at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 312 Victoria Street, Monday (February 1), from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Malcore (West) Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements, 499-4100.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials should be sent in Gay’s name to King Veterans Hospital, Ainsworth Hall, Attn: Amy Formella, N2665 County QQ, Waupaca, WI 54946.
