Ellen Charlotte Karwedsky

June 5, 1920 — August 17, 2015

Ellen C. Karwedsky, 95, Green Bay, entered into Heaven into the loving arms of God and her beloved husband James’ arms, with her family by her side on August 17. Born in Green Bay she is the daughter of the late Sylvester and Ellen (Stiles) Ritz. She married James Karwedsky on November 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death March 22, 1981. Ellen loved God and her family and was an amazingly kind woman with a smile that lit up a room. Her hugs were warm and she loved beyond measure. Ellen was a life long member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. She was active in the Mission Society for many years and also made Baptismal gowns for the parish. Ellen also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul She loved to crochet, making beautiful doilies and afghans. Ellen enjoyed playing bingo and Polish Poker, puzzles and making crafts. Signs that her husband was near were butterflies, owls and raccoons.

Survived by her children: Kathy (David) Mikulsky, Kristine (David) Selissen, Mary (Edward) Gerczak, Joseph (Lenita) Karwedsky, Robin (Joseph) Wright and Kevin (Lisa) Karwedsky; 20 grandchildren and spouses; 30 great grandchildren with two due in October; one sister: Catherine Persson; one brother-in-law: Patrick Lee; one sister-in-law: Evie Ritz; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren.

Also preceded in death by one infant son: Michael on August 28, 1951; Siblings: Charles (Ann) Ritz, Edward (Babe) Ritz, Viola Suski, Alvina (Clarence) Woelky, Annabelle (Clyde) Wiegand, Charlotte Lee and William Ritz; brother-in-law: Arthur Karwedsky and Robert Persson; one sister-in-law: Marie Laes.

Friends may call at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, from 4 – 8 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2015. Parish wake service 7 P.M. Thursday evening by Deacon Tom Mahoney. Friday visitation will continue at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Church, 139 So. Madison Street, from 10 A.M. Friday until the time of the funeral mass. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 11 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Church with Rev. Joseph E. Dorner officiating and Father Bob Kabat concelebrating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in her memory.
