    Elizabeth M. Greatens

    June 23, 1933 - January 28, 2018

    Elizabeth “Betty” M. Greatens, 84, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local facility on January 28, 2018, with family by her side. Born on June 23, 1933, in Casco, she is the daughter of the late Desire and Anna (Schott) Spangler. Betty was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. On September 27, 1952, she married Norbert “Norb” Greatens at Saints Peter and Paul Church, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2009. Betty worked many years at the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles and Wisconsin Public Service, until her retirement in 1993. She was an amazing seamstress, and she enjoyed flower gardening. Betty will be fondly remembered for her generosity to those who were less fortunate. She tenderly took care of her elderly parents for many years. Betty was very proud of her family, and kept them connected throughout the years with the latest news and family happenings. She had a very deep faith and devotion to Mary, and she was a lifelong member of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Betty is survived by her loving children, Kevin Greatens, Suamico, Cindy (Bob) Kapla, Green Bay, and Michelle (Rudy) Anguiano, Plano TX; eight grandchildren, Sara (Josh) Georgel, Joshua Greatens, Eric (Emily) Kapla, Amanda (Greg) Radtke, Rafael Anguiano, and Gabriel Anguiano, Chad Robinson and Michelle Robinson; one great grandson, Bronson Kapla; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Smits, Oneida, and Marlene Spangler, De Pere; one niece and many nephews; and her special friend, Willy Borley. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Joseph Spangler; one granddaughter, Dana Kapla. Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St., with the Rev. Brian Belongia officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence - especially Sandy, as well as her caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital.
