Earl W. “Sonny” Longteau, 95, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local residential facility on September 14, 2015, with family by his side, six days short of his 96th birthday. Born on September 20, 1919, in the Town of Scott, he is the son of the late Earl and Marcella (Counihan) Longteau. Earl served in the United States Army from 1941-1945, during the Pacific Campaign. On October 10, 1947, he married the former Ethel Van Caster at St. Joseph’s Church in Green Bay. Earl worked as a machinist/mechanic for his entire career. He and Ethel enjoyed traveling in retirement. He also cherished times spent with his loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Earl was a member of the “Over the Hill Gang.” He also had the amazing opportunity to take the Honor Flight in October 2010.
Earl is survived by his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Jan (Len) Jonet, and Kathy (Jack) Watzka, both of Green Bay; three grandchildren, Tami (Rick) Process, Sobieski, Kimberly (Mike) Powers, De Pere, and Kelly (Josh) Feller, Germantown; six great grandchildren, Madelyn and Quinn Process, Claire and Natalie Powers, and Archer and August “Gus” Feller; one brother-in-law, Walter (Shirley) Kreissig; and one sister-in-law, Luella Crabb.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one sister, Antoinette Longteau.
Visitation at Holy Cross – Bay Settlement, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Michael Weber, O. Praem, officiating. Entombment in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family, 432-5579.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the McCormick Home, Borneman CBRF-North, and Unity Hospice – especially Brenda, Melanie, Gemma, Jennifer, and Chaplain Larry. They would also like to thank Dave and Vi, Judy, and Loretta for their special companionship. A special thank you to Fr. Paul Vanden Hogen for his compassionate prayers.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home to honor Unity Hospice and the Outagamie County Honor Flight Program.
