Dorothy L. Lindell

November 25, 1922 — September 1, 2022

Dorothy Lorraine (Vanden Heuvel) Lindell was born 11/25/1922 and passed on 9/1/2022 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Lindell who died 9/1/1992, and many dear family members including infant sister Laverne, parents Herman and Agatha (Besaw) Vanden Heuvel, precious brother Gerald Vanden Heuvel (Barbara), and fun in-laws Wesley Lindell (Lena ), June (Lindell) Moore, Harold Lindell (Jeane), Donald Van Lanen (survived by Gerry), John Van Lanen, Richard Van Lanen, Billy Van Lanen (survived by Mary), Dolly Van Lanen, nephews Larry Van Lanen and Mike Vanden Heuvel, and grand niece Marieka Spitzen.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Robyn Lindell Rickert (Stan), grandchildren John Zilles (Salli), Aaron Rickert (Jessica), Lauren La Plant (Andrew), and great grand children Annabelle, Jack and Finn Zilles, and Quinn and Rory La Plant. Other survivors include Diane Richardson, many truly beloved nieces, nephews and their families, and some precious longtime friends.

Dorothy received a two year degree in business from the City Vocational School and was proud to be employed at Green Bay Savings and Loan. In 1954 Dorothy and Bob purchased a little country store in Bay Settlement. They owned and operated Lindell’s Grocery for 25 years and truly cherished being members of this community and the Holy Cross Parish family. Later in life, Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer at Curative Rehab and St. Vincent de Paul. She so loved and appreciated her work, friends, family, and many acquaintances. For much of their adult life, Dorothy and Bob enjoyed countless great times with members of the Baylanders Chorus (their singing family), as well as golfing, dinners, parties and lots of music with family and friends. Dorothy had great enthusiasm in caring for her yard, bird watching, all things homemaking, and being a very involved Grandma. Bless her beautiful spirit! Memories of our time with her will fill our hearts forever!

Sincere thanks to the wonderful caretakers who have really been there for Dorothy over the past 8 years. We will always be grateful to you for providing such competent and compassionate care! The family will celebrate Dorothy in a private graveside service and publish details later this month regarding a public gathering to honor Dorothy.

Gifts in memory of Dorothy can be directed to Alzheimer’s Research, Unity Hospice, Paul’s Pantry, Wisconsin Public Television or The Nature Conservancy.
