Donald “Don” Keon, 74, Crivitz, formerly of Green Bay, died Friday morning, June 21, 2013, at home. Born in Lena, October 8, 1938, he is the son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Randall) Keon. Don served in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1957-1961. He married the former Jean Barr, July 25, 1959, at First United Methodist Church in Green Bay. Don worked at Halron Oil Co. then for the Green Bay Fire Department retiring as Captain in 1992. He built his log cabin retirement home in Crivitz with the help of family and friends. During his retirement he volunteered with the Twinbridge Rescue Squad. Don enjoyed scuba diving, fishing in Canada, hunting out west, camping, horseback riding, and could fix anything, especially friend’s cars. Don was a member of First United Methodist Church in Green Bay.
He is survived by his spouse, Jean of Crivitz; 2 children, Randall (Penny) Keon of Crivitz, and Kristin (Tomas) Zettler of Green Bay; grandson, Cody (Heather) Keon of Denmark; granddaughter, Emily (Cameron) Keon of Little Suamico, and their mother, Annette Hicks; step grandchildren, Kyle, Rae Ann, and Lydel Greetan; great granddaughter, Peyton Keon; 5 step great grandchildren, Kaden Lee, Kyler, Rex, Aeyla, and Tayah; 2 brothers, Dick (Mary) Keon of Green Bay, and Wayne (Liz) Keon of Two Rivers; sister, Meredith Keon of Pulaski; 2 sisters-in-law, Judy Boncher of Denmark, and Nancy Keon of Green Bay; further survived by other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ross; daughter, Leslie both in infancy; brothers, Jack Keon, and Jim (Mary Lynn and Helen) Keon; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cecil (Margaret Pauls) Barr; brother-in-law, Tom Boncher; several nieces and nephews who were special to him and many special friends and neighbors.
A private memorial service for only the family will be held up north at a later date. Malcore (East) Funeral Home, Green Bay assisted the family.
