Chester "Chet" Joski

Chester “Chet” Joski, 89, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2013, at home. Born June 9, 1923, in Humboldt, he is the son of the late Peter and Mary Jurczykowski. At a very young age, Chet, went to live with his Godparents and worked on their farm. He faithfully served as a Military Police Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. Chet had served in the Battle of Northern France and Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge receiving the medals of American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, four Overseas Service Bars, and one Service Stripe with the Good Conduct Medal. He continued as an active member of the Bellevue Winiecki VFW Post #09677 after returning from his service. Chet then married Lucille DeKeyser in May of 1946 at Saints Peter and Paul Church and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2004. He was employed at Mill Print in DePere and was a proud union leader. Furthermore, Chet was a “Jack-of-all-trades” working many additional jobs. His last job was as a security guard at the Brown County Central Library retiring just last year. Chet will be remembered for his support of the Packers and Brewers. He was a perfectionist and always took pride in his landscaping and his vehicles. Above all, his FAMILY was his life.

Chet is survived by three children, Nancy (Evan) Boenning of Aspen, CO, Randy (Terri) Joski of Athelstane, and Terri (Paul) Lang of Edina, MN; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) DeGrave and their children, Kyla, Zoe and Jaxon; Lora (fiancé Craig) Bond and their children, Lucia and Silvia; Amy Joski and her son, Trevor; Anne (David) Johnston, Stephen Boenning, Hunter Lang, Rachel Lang; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Joski of Green Bay and Beatrice Goral of Milwaukee; brother-in-law, Hillard (Donna) DeKeyser of Green Bay; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille: one infant son, David; and his many brothers and sisters.

Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 4-8pm. Bellevue Winiecki VFW Post #09677 memorial service, 6:45pm Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Wake service 7pm Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the funeral home led by Deacon William J. Burkel. Visitation continues Thursday, June 6, 2013, morning at the funeral home from 9am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass, 11am Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Saints Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. Anthony V. Cirignani, OFM officiating. Full military honors to follow at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Chet was loved and respected by all who met him and will be very sadly missed.

Chet’s family extends a very special thank you to his granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Jeff, for all the extra loving care shown to Chet.
