Bernard “Bernie” Van Pay, 78, Green Bay, died peacefully, Sunday, October 19, 2014, at home. Born in Brown County, October 25, 1935, he is the son of the late John and Pauline (Vanden Avond) Van Pay. Bernie served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He married the former Audrey Dorner on July 17, 1957, at St. Mary’s Church in Luxemburg. Bernie worked at Charmin Paper (Procter & Gamble) for 35 years. During his employment at the mill he also worked at a variety of part time jobs. Bernie enjoyed times spent snowmobiling with the family, tinkering in the garage, and deer hunting with his friend, John in northern Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; children, Thomas (Jo Ann) Van Pay, Daniel (Dawn) Van Pay, Wendelin “Wendy” (William) Vanness, and Kelly (Holly) Van Pay all of Green Bay; 14 grandchildren, Joshua, Brooke (Jeff), John (Leah), Ramanda, Eric, Brad, Jesse, Alicia, Justin, Kendra (Kou), Craig, Colin, McKenna, and Mason; 3 great grandchildren, Amina, Emma, and Lianna; and brother, Clarence Van Pay of Green Bay; many other relatives and friends.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice (Mike) Heiser and Myrtle (Archie) Van Gothem; brothers, Harold Van Pay and Robert (Beatrice) Van Pay; and sister-in-law, Rose Van Pay.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Wednesday, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. VFW service 6:30 P.M. and parish wake service 7:00 P.M. Wednesday. The visitation will continue at the funeral home Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Cirignani, OFM officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd.
