Bernadette M. Parmentier

March 12, 1916 — February 4, 2015

Bernadette M. Parmentier, 98, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local assisted living facility on February 4, 2015, with her family by her side. Born March 12, 1916, in Burlington, Wis., she was raised on the farm, and is the daughter of the late Bernard and Francis (Uhen) Roanhaus. She moved to Green Bay after high school and lived with her aunt and uncle for several years while working at H.C. Prange Co. downtown. She met the love of her life, Edgar Parmentier, at the age of 35, and they were married on October 6, 1951; it was a match made in heaven. At that age they thought they would not have any children, but were blessed with four, one each year thereafter. Ed and Bernadette bought a little cottage on the bay after they were married, and as the family expanded, so did the home.

Bernadette was a true caregiver, the most selfless of all people. She took in and cared for many elderly people in her day, including a couple of grandparents, and an aunt. When she was in her 70s, she decided she would take up bowling. She loved it, and was bowling 2-3 times per week until she was 91.

Bernadette was involved in many volunteer and church groups at St. Willebrord Parish. She acted as a lay distributor there in her 80s, where she and Ed established many friendships and went out to breakfast every morning after church.

Bernadette loved to take rides in the car with her son Dennis, who would get her out to see and enjoy as much as possible.

Bernadette was known for her quick-wit and great one-liners. She could have the room in tears laughing, and that quick-wit stayed with her till the end. She was a very prayerful woman, and if she was praying for you, you knew everything would be fine.

Bernadette is survived by four children, Mark (Cora) Parmentier, New Franken, Dennis Parmentier, Green Bay, Mary (Al) Linssen-Benson, Townsend, and David (Judy) Parmentier, New Franken; seven grandchildren, Shelly (Mark) Pierquet, Natalie (Brett) Killion, Nathan (Susie) Parmentier, Eric Linssen (special friend, Cathy Carrier), Brian (Mindy) Linssen, Jeremy Ledvina (special friend, Randi Ramuta), and Stephanie (Lisa Luchun) Ledvina; 12 great grandchildren; two nephews, Pat Parmentier, and John Roanhaus; and one niece, Susie Parmentier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Parmentier; two brothers, Harold and Wallace Roanhaus; and one sister, Norma Roanhaus.
