August C. "Augie" De Villers

January 17, 1934 — May 7, 2016

August C. “Augie” De Villers, Jr., 82, Bellevue, died peacefully at a local nursing home on May 7, 2016. Born on January 17, 1934, in Casco, he is the son of the late August Sr. and Matilda (Barrette) De Villers. Augie lived in Algoma for 19 years and attended Kodan Grade School and Algoma High School. He married the former Agnes Draye on July 25, 1953 at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Augie worked at Algoma Plywood until he moved to Green Bay, after which he worked in construction with Spitzer Construction and Local 1146. He cherished spending time with his family. Augie also enjoyed having his morning coffee at the restaurant with his friends. His hobbies included snowmobiling, trap shooting, NASCAR, going to Door County, and watching the Packers and Brewers.

Augie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Aggie, Bellevue; nine children, Sharon (Bruce) Meulemans, Sobieski, Marilyn (Duane) Buss, Suamico, Gloria (Dan) Betzinger, De Pere, Kathleen (Charles) Crossman, Bellevue, David (Stephanie) De Villers, Little Suamico, Dawn (Joe) Wisinski, Green Bay, Judith (Dan) Hartlieb, Round Lake, IL, Wayne (Debbie) De Villers, Howard, Sandra (Mark) Jermolowicz, Mira Loma, CA; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Audrey (Roger) Lischka, Bellevue, Rosemary Wenzel, Antioch, IL, and Jeanette King, Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Linda De Villers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August De Villers, Sr., Matilda, and Catherine; grandparents; one brother, Marvin De Villers; in-laws, Peter and Mary Draye; three brothers-in-law, Elroy King, Sr., Walter Wenzel, Martin Spitzer; one sister-in-law, Catherine Spitzer; two sons-in-law, Joe LeMieux and Jon Lesatz.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday at Prince of Peace Church, 3425 Willow Rd, Friday from 10:00 until the time of the funeral. Funeral 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Dan Vietel and Deacon Bill Burkel officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Unity Hospice, 4th Floor at Bellin Hospital, and Bornemann Nursing Home for all of the care and patience shown to Augie.
