Albert “Dutch” VanderZeyden, 68, formerly of Green Bay, died peacefully, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Yuma, AZ. Born in Utrecht, Holland, March 12, 1946 he is the son of the late Albert and Magdalena (van Kreuningen) VanderZeyden. The family immigrated to Green Bay on March 5, 1953. Dutch was a graduate of Preble High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dutch had been married three times. His first wife was the former June Burrow, followed by the former Denise Spalla, and the former Sharon Parmentier. Dutch worked faithfully for the Brown County Sheriffs Department for 28 years until his retirement. As Road Sergeant, Dutch always considered the men who worked under him his brother’s. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his Monaco Motor Coach, across the country. Dutch’s gift of conversation was well utilized on his H.A.M. radio as “WB9YWQ”, since 1973. He enjoyed the tradition and camaraderie of racing homing pigeons with his local club. For over 28 years, Dutch had a passion, for breeding and showing dogs. He had a fondness for his AKC Dobermans, and top showing, Pug.
He is survived by children, Vickie VanderZeyden of Porterville, CA and Kerry (Ben) Englebert of Green Bay; 3 grand children, Stephanie, Aleshia, and Brody; great grandchild, Kailey; 2 brothers, Cornelis “Corey” (Joyce) VanderZeyden of Pembine and Robert VanderZeyden of Jefferson; many other relatives and friends.
Dutch was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Monday, December 29th, from 4:00 PM until the time of the funeral at 7:00 PM. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
