Wilbur E. Wennesheimer, known to many as Willie, longtime resident of Duck Creek/Howard passed away Saturday evening. He was born on July 28, 1922 to Edward and Anna Wennesheimer. Wilbur served our country as a member of the United States Navy and received the Victory Medal, American Region Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon.
He married Beatrice Kurtz on August 5, 1950. They were blessed with a son, Gary. Wilbur spent his work life at Leicht’s Transfer, Les Johnson’s and Schwerman’s trucking firms. He was fortunate enough to spend 32 years working and 35 retired.
Wilbur enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist’s Senior Card Club, serving as President for 30 years. He also enjoyed membership in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree/Life Time member. Serving in the VFW in a variety of positions since 1947 also took up his free/retirement time. Another interest of Wilbur’s was the Retiree’s Club. He served as Vice President for 13 years. He absolutely loved being with and visiting with all friends acquired over his 92 years.
Wilbur was predeceased by his wife Beatrice, his brother, Orville, and his brother-in-law Orlin Bishop. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Kay; sister, Evelyn Skaggs; sister, Violet Elliot, all of Green Bay, WI; sister, Ann Bishop, Seymour, WI; grandchildren, Grant Wennesheimer, San Diego, California; Jennifer Borman; Stacy and Kyle Kallenberg, and Greg and Tyra Wennesheimer, all of Green Bay, WI; one great grandchild, Bella Borman, Green Bay, WI; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason Street, Thursday, from 3:00 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Manuel Torres officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Wilbur’s name.
