Robert "Bob" Plog

October 11, 1932 — January 13, 2018

Robert Plog, 85, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 13, 2017, at home in his sleep. Born Oct. 11, 1932, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Francis “Fritz” and Norma (Kaufman) Plog. Bob served in the US Marine Corp, from Sept. 1950 to Sept. 1953 serving as Corporal/Acting Sgt. during the Korean War. After returning from the military, he worked for the railroad in Milwaukee for a number of years. Bob then worked for Labor Union #330 and helped construct many bridges including the Tower Drive Bridge. He married the former Rita Wojkiewicz on July 11, 1981, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2004. Bob was a long-time faithful member of Saints Peter and Paul Church. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of going to the Casino, playing BINGO, Cribbage, dancing Polkas with Rita, traveling and working his word games. Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He loved reminiscing about the family’s auto racing history. Bob was very proud to have had grandchildren to carry on the “Plog” name, in particular, Travis and Gabrielle Plog.

Robert is survived by three children, Patty (Eugene) Duchateau, Pulaski, Cheryl (Cory) Forst, Pulaski, and Vickie Mahlik, De Pere; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Tessie) Plog, and John (Jean) Plog, all of Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Rita; one daughter, Susan “Susie” Erieau-Bunker; brother, Richard “Dick” (Shirley) Plog; sister, Donna (Buck) Whitcomb; infant son, Robert, Jr.; and a grandson, Richard Harper.
