Ralph Jerome Schoch, 77, Mountain, passed away peacefully at home October 14, 2014, surrounded by his family. Born on September 5, 1937, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Lauritzen) Schoch . Ralph graduated from East High School the class of ’56. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Horkman on May 24, 1958, in Green Bay at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Ralph worked at Georgia Pacific as an electrician for forty years before retiring in 1996. Carol and Ralph retired to Mountain, WI, on the Oconto River in 1998 where he enjoyed the view of the river and watching the birds and wild animals. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and landscaping. Ralph also had many hobbies, which included, genealogy, treasure hunting with his metal detector, and collecting many things including space shuttle memorabilia. He was known by his family and friends for saying it like it is and having a heart of gold.
Ralph is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Carol; two daughters, Deborah (Jerry Elbe) Schoch of Mountain, and Jody (Juerg) Fluri of Switzerland; grandson, Marco Fluri; sister, Maren Eschelweck; sister-in-law, Janie “Sis” Lapacz; brother-in-law, Floyd Hanstedt; two nephews, Lonnie (Lila) Lapacz, and Todd (Joy) Lapacz; three nieces, Laurie (William) Taylor, Terry (Martin) Malchelski, and Diane (Ron) Parrett-Johnson.
Preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Emma Horkman; sister, Lois Hanstedt; special brother-in-law, Stan Lapacz, and brother-in-law, Bob Eschelweck.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home 701 N. Baird St. Monday, October 20, from 11 AM until the time of the funeral at 12 (Noon) with Pastor Steve Fewell officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice especially, Patty, Sheenah, and Chaplain Steve Fewell. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Dobson, and Sarah.
