Phyllis Gerstner, Green Bay, 93, died peacefully on April 30, 2013. Born on January 24, 1920, in Manitowoc, she is the daughter of the late Melvin and Clara (Klinbiel) Ludwig. Phyllis was a 1938 graduate of Green Bay East High School. On June 9, 1942, she married Cyril “Cy” Gerstner, and he preceded her in death in June 1963. Phyllis worked at Dunn and Bradstreet in Green Bay from 1938-1942, and at Beaver Motors in Beaver Dam from 1955-1963. She enjoyed piano playing, singing in the church choir, bowling, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Yahtzee and Scrabble. Phyllis was a member of the Elks Ladies Club, #1540 in Beaver Dam, WI. Phyllis was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by three children, John (Judy Brower) Gerstner, Wayne, IL, Tim (Judy Rae) Gerstner, Homer Glen, IL, and Peggy (John) Gerstner-Bussie, Elizabeth, CO; six grandchildren, John (Megean) Gerstner, Mike (Jenn) Gerstner, and Mark Gerstner, and Patrick, Bradley (Marti), and Bryan Bussie; four great grandchildren, Max, Luke, and Evelyn Gerstner, and Mason Bussie.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and one brother, Tom Ludwig.
Visitation at St. Bernard Parish, 2040 Hillside Lane, Thursday (May 9, 2013) from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam, WI.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be made out to Unity Hospice and the American Cancer Society in Phyllis’s name.
