Mildred “Millie” Marie Von der Linden, 92, Green Bay, often said that she was lucky to have had a good life, for which she had no regrets. On June 5, 2014, she left that life sheltered and supported with love and care, without pain or fear, and with a calm, peaceful dignity that suited her, and the life that she lived. Born on November 16, 1921, in Hackensack, NJ to the late Lena and Buck Roe, Millie went on to become so many of the things that she valued: a mother, teacher, world traveler, and an educated woman.
Millie will be missed and held in loving memory by her children, Jayne Von der Linden of Green Bay, Lauren Symons of Plainfield, NH, and Russell Roe Von der Linden of Canaan, NH; grandchildren, Ryan (Rozsa Keller) Daniels of Waukesha, David Symons of New Orleans, LA, and Alyson (Zachary) Pohlman of Madison; and her beautiful great granddaughter, Sienna Daniels.
There will be a gathering at her daughter’s home, 2519 Gemini Road, on Sunday, July 20, 2014, from 1 – 5 p.m., to celebrate Millie’s life. If you knew Millie, she would have been delighted to have you remember her as a “spunky” woman.
Millie’s family will never have enough words to express their gratitude to the staff at Heritage Gardens, who loved, nurtured and honored Millie, as one of each of their families, during her dementia and frailty.
