Lucille (Stegmann) Maccoux

March 29, 1940 — November 1, 2015

Lucille (Stegmann) Maccoux, 75, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly from a major stroke November 1, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 29, 1940, in Door County to the late Louis and Lucy (Tenor) Stegmann. Lucille graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School class of ’58. She received her teaching certificate from Door Kewaunee County College. Lucille married Lee Maccoux August 6, 1960, at Maplewood Church. She had her first child, Diane September 18, 1961. Lucille and Lee lived in Misere on the family farm while she began her teaching career at Gardner School in 1962 and then taught at Roosevelt School from 1962 to 1966 . During this time she continued her Bachelor’s of Science with summer classes at the University of Stevens Point. They moved to Green Bay in 1966 to the home in which they still reside. They had their second child, Darin on November 24, 1966. The family has been life-time members of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Lucille’s teaching career continued in Green Bay at Eisenhower Elementary School. While teaching there she earned her masters in Education through Lesley University. She taught for thirty five years at Eisenhower Elementary School and completed her final year of teaching at King Elementary in 2001.

Lucille’s passion in life was her faith and family. She was a devout Catholic who attended daily mass with her husband and was a frequent participant at Relevant Radio. Their travels included several trips to Medjugorje where she enriched her beliefs of the Marian movement. They enjoyed their religious retreats on Chambers Island. She was very active in the Cursillo prayer group and was an inspiration to family, friends, and fellow parishoners. She provided community service with distribution of communion at Bellin Hospital. Our family is very grateful for the compassionate care the hospital provided to Lucille on the last day of her life. The family would like to thank Fr. Bob Rhyner, Chaplain Will Tabb, and Fr. Tim Shilcox for their support during Lucille’s hospitalization.

Lucille loved her family dearly and instilled faith based values for three generations. Lucille was always putting others before herself. She was ever present at special life events and activities of her children and grandchildren. Lucille has left a legacy of a deep Catholic faith and devotion to the nuclear family. She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lee; two children, Diane (Joseph) Waugh of Stewartville, MN, Dr. Darin (Carrie) Maccoux, of Big Bend, WI; 8 grandchildren, Renee (Josh) Johnson, Rachel (Nate) Askelson, Elizabeth and Julianne Waugh, Kyleen, Preston, Lydia, and Anelise Maccoux; one great grandchild, Adelynn; one sister and two brothers, Shirley (Don) Schartner, John (Maxine) Stegmann, Louie (Pat) Stegmann; sister-in-law and aunt, Pearl (Tenor) Maccoux; cousin, Sandy (Knutson) Greaves; along with many other cousins, relatives, and friends.
