Lloyd R. Zimmerman

September 7, 1921 — February 7, 2017

Lloyd R. Zimmerman, 95, Green Bay, formerly of Kewaunee, passed away on February 7, 2017, at Maple Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness. Born on September 7, 1921, in Kewaunee, he is the son of the late Walter and Ella (Jerovetz) Zimmerman. Lloyd grew up in Kewaunee, where he attended public schools. On April 18, 1956, he married the former Marjorie Frisque in Kewaunee, and she preceded him in death on Friday, November 15, 2013.
Lloyd was a lifelong member of the Kewaunee VFW Post 3392 after serving four years in the U.S. Army, where he fought in World War II in North Africa and Italy, from 1942-1946.
While working at Luxemburg Implement, Kewaunee Engineering, and Leese Aluminum, “Zimmy” and “Marge” continued to farm in the Kewaunee area. Over the years the couple developed a fondness for gardening and fishing. Dancing was always an important part of their social life. In retirement the couple added camping in Door County to a list of enjoyment which included travel throughout the Midwest and New England.

Lloyd is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John (Gloria Guilette) Granius, Little Suamico, Ricky (Jeanie) Zimmerman, Green Bay, and Paul (Linda) Zimmerman, Clark, MO; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Boor, Kewaunee; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; step-father, Edward Fonzloff; one sister, Selma; and two brothers, Walter Jr. and Marvin.

Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason St., Monday from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with full military honors to follow performed by the Kewaunee VFW Post 3392. Entombment at Knollwood Memorial Park in Manitowoc.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Maple Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate services. Their care will always be remembered.
