Leonora (Keuer) Forsythe, 98, Green Bay, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013. Born on April 30, 1915, in Brillion, she is the daughter of the late William and Johanna (Zick) Keuer. She graduated from the Womens Institute of Domestic Arts and Sciences of Scranton, PA, on September 23, 1932. She married Raymond Forsythe on October 10, 1935, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1997. Leonora and her family farmed the seven generation farm for 20 years. In 1968 the 80 acre farm became part of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay campus is. The original farmhouse was moved to Champeau Rd where it sits today. After the family left home Leonora and Ray enjoyed 20 winters in Florida. Leonora enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, boating, and time spent with family. She was especially known for her tomatoes and flowers. Leonora was very deep in her faith and wanted her children to follow her in it. She always had a sense of humor.
She is survived by her 10 children and their spouses, Rachel (Roger) Georgia of Green Bay, Beatrice Beyer of Green Bay, Richard (Margaret) Forsythe of West De Pere, Robert (Mary) Forsythe of Sheboygan, Lucille (Francis) Mincheski of New Franken, Carol (Leon) Gehrke of Denmark, Joanna (Richard) Haslitt Jr., of Maribel, Rosemary (Wayne) Duquaine of Sebastopol, California, Cynthia (Richard) Schwartz of De Pere, and Melinda Forsythe of Green Bay; two former son in law Earl Schmude, and Joseph Byng; 44 grandchildren; 98 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; one sister and brother in law, Albertina (Don) Gensler; numerous nieces and nephews.
Leonora was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; one daughter Elizabeth Schmude; two granddaughters, Debra Schmude, and Barbara Myszewski; great grandchild, Gabrielle Schwartz; two sisters, Myrtle (Clarence) Loose, Mabel and Meta Keuer; four brothers, Wilbur, Ezra (Gladys), Wesley (Bonnie), and Victor (LeMeryl) Keuer and son in law, Norbert Beyer.
Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home University Avenue at Baird Street Tuesday, July 9th, from 9 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11 AM. Burial on July 18 at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
Leonora lived independently until the age of 97. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Leonora’s caregivers and the staff of Aurora VNA Hospice.
