Leonard La Plant Jr., 85, Green Bay, passed away July 4, 2014. Born on October 6, 1928, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Leonard and Lillian (De Leers) La Plant, Sr. Leonard graduated from East High School in the class of 1946, and St. Norbert College in 1950. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and played trumpet in the San Diego Base Band. Leonard married Nancy Du Chateau on April 7, 1956, in Green Bay. He worked at Northwest Engineering for forty years originally as an engineer and tool designer, and later as Facilities Manager, until he retired in 1990. Leonard played trumpet in dance bands at Riverside Ballroom during the 40’s and 50’s. He was a charter member of Resurrection Church in Allouez. Leonard enjoyed raising tropical fish, gardening-especially tending to his beautiful roses, and he had a love of big band, swing, and jazz music.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two children, Linda La Plant of De Pere, and Guy La Plant and partner Joseph Dykema of Houston, TX; one sister, Marilyn Bader; nephews, Steven (Sandra) Bader, and Kurt (Ethel) Bader; many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Thursday, July 10, from 5:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 PM.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
