Karen Ann Van Pay

Karen Ann Van Pay, 66, De Pere, died peacefully on April 3, 2015, surrounded by family. Born on November 8, 1948, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Curtis Sr., and Bernice (DeStaercke) Leanna. On March 24, 1979, she married David Van Pay amidst a blizzard in Green Bay. Karen was active in the Girl Scouts when the children were growing up. She was also very involved with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 224, for many years. Karen enjoyed crafting, shopping, collecting, reading, antiquing, gardening, traveling, and was an avid Packer fan. She also cherished times spent with her grandchildren and her faithful cat, Precious.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, David; three daughters, Lisa Fonder, Sarasota, FL, Tina Lynn (Craig) Rentmeester, Kaukauna, and Tera Hunt, Green Bay; two step-children, Shawn Fischer, Pennsylvania, and Mike (Krista) Van Pay, Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, Kaylee, Alexandra (Eric), Nicklaus, Tyler, Andrew, Samantha, and Zachary; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Justin, and Elizabeth; great granddaughter, Reese; one goddaughter, Stephanie McKowen; one godson, Tommy Van Pay; one brother and sister-in-law, Curtis (Mary Ann) Leanna, Jr.; five brothers-in-law, Gerald (Helen) Van Pay, Gary (Linda) Van Pay, Darrell Van Pay, Ronald Van Pay, and James (Dorothy) Van Pay; and one sister-in-law, Diane (Gary) Hansen.

She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Prokash; her parents; and in-laws.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at Celebration Church, 3475 Humboldt Road, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lathan Duncan officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rennes Health, the 2nd floor staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Mary Chris and the staff of Comfort Keepers, Ivy and Ann at Interim Health, and Teri Leonhart of Brown County Human Services. They would also like to thank her beloved friends, Mary Jo and Barbie.
