Julie Durham, 56, Allouez, died peacefully at a local hospital on October 4, 2014, after a courageous battle with an autoimmune disease. Born on February 3, 1958, in Battle Creek, MI, she is the daughter of Gail (Archambeault) and the late Jack Wallace Goundrill. She married David Durham in 2003 at Waldenwood Resort in Howell, MI. She saved many lives with the non-profit foundation that Julie founded called Pink Door – an organization that assisted under- and uninsured women obtain mammograms. Julie was a woman who was truly gifted, and she enjoyed sharing her many talents with the people that she loved. She was a home decorator, singer, guitar player, and master articulator.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, David; three children, Shawn Durham, Lincoln Park, MI, Melissa Faye, Florida, and Cody Durham, Fort Hood, TX; two grandchildren, Alexander and Noah; mother, Gail Goundrill; one brother, Jack and girlfriend, Sandy; nieces and nephews, Cole, Abbie, and Blake; and one sister-in-law, Casey Rhoades.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Private services were arranged through Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 432-5579.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at David’s home to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.
