Joseph A. Bottkol, 75, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly at a local hospital on February 17, 2016, surrounded by family. Born on May 29, 1940, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Deno) Bottkol. On September 5, 1964 he married the former Jean M. DeKeyser at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary and graduated from Premontre High School in 1958. Joe attended UW-Green Bay Extension, and also served in the United States Army Reserves. He worked for Diana Manufacturing Company for most of his career, then drove for Lamers Travel and Tour until his retirement. Joe enjoyed model railroading, rail fanning, photography, history, camping, spending time with his dogs, and watching movies. He also loved to talk and share stories and memories with friends and family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; five children, Anne Bottkol, Coleman, Cheryl (Brett) Schumacher, Stoughton, Wis., Kevin Bottkol, Green Bay, Matt (Ali) Bottkol, Madison, and Paula (Brian) Riley, Madison; five grandchildren, Amanda (Charlie) Matuszewski, Laona, Wis., Isaac, Amelia, and Gavin Schumacher, Stoughton, and Josephine Riley, Madison; great grandchildren, Greyson, Evelyn, and Reese; sister-in-law, Joan (Patrick D.) Posey, Belize; niece and nephews, Maria, Jerry, Kurt, Eric, and John; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Milton (Ruth VandenBusch) DeKeyser; aunts and uncles, George (Dorothy) Bottkol, Orville (Millie) Deno, and Lillian (John) Harring.
Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason Street, Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be made out to the Bay Area Humane Society in Joe’s name.
